Have you taken admission for B.Sc (Hons) Physics but are also interested in better communication skills? Or, does a short course in Sports Economics appeal to the cricket fan in you?
For those who have managed to get a seat in a Delhi University college, learning a language or Vedic math is only a matter of choice.
Several Delhi University colleges offer short-term add-on courses to help their students broaden their perspective and better their chances of getting employed. The courses are available only to the students of the college where they are offered.

Language courses in French, Spanish and Russian are already popular on campuses. However, career-oriented courses are the ones climbing the popularity charts.
“Our add-on courses have been lapped up by students. The most popular ones are the career-oriented courses, but others that help the students get a better idea of the world are also quite popular,” said Meera Ramachandran, Principal, Gargi College. The college is popular for its add-on courses. Courses that foster a better understanding of the society are also gaining popularity, officials said.
“We usually look to students for information on the courses they are interested in. We give them choices at the beginning of the year. Things are finalised after we receive the applications,” said Kanika Khandelwal, media coordinator, Lady Shri Ram College for Women.
Last year, the college offered a wide range of courses such as entrepreneurship, mathematical tools for managers, women and the political process, legal literacy for women and photojournalism.
But students, as well as teachers, acknowledge that managing these courses after the introduction of the semester system is a little difficult. “We faced problems last year,” Ramachandran acknowledged.
