History: The Jesus and Mary College (JMC) is a female only college situated in the Delhi University’s ‘South Campus’. The Congregation of Jesus and Mary founded it in the year 1968. The College is considered to be a minority institution and therefore provides a 50% reservation for Catholic or other Christian students. It also follows its own admission procedure. The college has more than 2500 students on its rolls and offers Honours courses in subjects such as History, Sociology, Political Science, Hindi, English, Economics, Psychology, Math and Commerce. A variety of certificate level courses are also provided by the college.
Infra: The infrastructure of the college stands out in every aspect. It has got a beautiful building design apart from its great location. The college also scores high on the Sports facilities. It has fields for sports like Hockey, Cricket, Football, Lawn Tennis and Basketball. Apart from this, there are modern laboratories fitted with a LCD Projector, a Multi-Purpose Hall and in house Gymnasium. The membership for the gymnasium is, however, open for the staff and students of the college.
Academics: The College offers integrated all-round education that focuses on the intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual development of every student. It has about 20 societies for extra-curricular activities such as debating, Western and Indian music, quizzing, choreography etc. It was the first college to start a Placement Cell in 1998. There are around 55 to 60 reputed companies, which hold on-campus interviews for placements.
Alumni: The famous alumni are Priyanka Gandhi, Neha Dhupia (Actress), Hasleen Kaur (Miss India 2011), Usha Sanyal (Historian) and Selja Kumari (Politician).
