T.A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal, successfully conducted its flagship HR Conclave Disha on August 23, 2014. The 6th edition of Disha promised to be bigger and better this year.

Disha is a kind of Conclave having huge magnitude, enables the present industry leaders to interact with future leaders and creates a whole new learning experience. The conclave inaugurate on August 18 and ends on August 23, 2014. The conclave in its current format will host more than 50 guests from companies covering over 15 different industry sectors like FMCG, manufacturing, logistics, retail, healthcare, life sciences, IT/ITeS etc. Mr. Rajat Jain, Managing Director, Xerox India is the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony and Mr. Krishnan V., Head-Talent Development of HCL Technologies will be the keynote speaker.

Here Corporate luminaries, from India’s top companies discuss, debate, and reflect on various aspects of Human Resource Management and thereby enlighten the students with their rich knowledge and experience and satisfy their intrusiveness.

 

 Disha 2014: Panel discussion in progress

 

Disha includes four main events namely; ‘Onimia’ - panel discussion where the eminent HR leaders from across the country discuss on topics pertaining to the theme. ‘Sophos’ - the guest lecture series where the guests interact with the students and provide them insights about industry practices. ‘Vrondi’ – a mock press event where students act as PR managers and defend the stance of their company in front of the press. ‘We the people’- the debate competition where students get to showcase their debating and analytical skills.

The topic selected for Disha 2014 is Talent Race in Emerging Economics. In an organization talent management plays a pivotal role and it’s depend on some aspects like how they attract, source, select, train, develop, promote, retain & move employees through the organization . The race for talent and concerns across sectors do vary, but, their importance is all-prevailing.

Disha 2014 discussed HR-related issues that have great relevance for business management in developing nations like India. Disha 2014 deliberated India’s position and opportunities in the ongoing race for the expansive talent available in prominent economies such as Brazil, Russia, India, China (BRIC) and others.
