The Disaster Management Training Programme (DTMP) was held in BIT Mesra on August 24, 2013, organized by the Environmental Protection and Awareness Club (EPAC), in association with the ‘All Rounder Adventure Group’ from Patna.
A group of 12 enthusiastic trainers including 4 girls came to the campus to guide the students on the various methods and training programmes necessary in order to cope with adverse circumstances. These included Rappelling, Monkey Crawling, Commando Net, Commando Bridge, Burma Bridge, Ladder Bridge, Archery and Valley Crossing.
Activities such as these help students to overcome their fears and be prepared for any emergency situations that unforeseen disasters might throw at them. The safety of the students was of top priority for the organisers, as proper harnesses were given to each participating student, and all the tasks were tried out first by the EPAC members.
The event was a huge success among students of the institute, as more than a hundred students participated in the activities.
“This is the second time such an event is being organized in the campus due to the initiative of EPAC, and we hope it continues to see such enthusiastic participation in the future.” said Dr. Vinay Sharma, the Dean Students’ Welfare.
