The Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, administers these courses. In addition to LLB and LLM courses, Delhi University also provides PhD courses to candidates interested in studying law. Delhi University holds a separate entrance examination for each law course offered by the educational institution. Candidates must clear the cut-off scores of these entrance examinations to become eligible for attending the counselling process.

Delhi University Law Colleges Important Dates

The online registration for Delhi University law colleges starts from the 4th week of April every year. The University also opens registration for DU law entrance examinations during the same time. Different entrance examinations are held for LLB, LLM and PhD students. Clearing the cut-off score of the entrance examination is mandatory for participating in the counselling.

To appear in the Delhi University law colleges entrance examination, candidates are required to fulfil certain requirements. Students are mandatory to have a graduate or postgraduate degree with 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC) marks for General.

Delhi University Law Colleges Admission

Students are required to fill the respective admission form of the course they are aiming to pursue from the Delhi University. The form needs to be submitted on or before the last date of the application form submission. All the important instructions regarding the online filling of Delhi University law colleges admission forms are slated as follows:

1. One email ID can be used for filling only one admission form.
2. Once candidates have registered at the official DU website, they are provided with a login ID or registration ID and password. These essentials are required for filling up the law admission form and complete all other admission formalities required by the Delhi University.
3. Mandatory fields of the admission form include the date of birth, full name (as appeared in class 10th and class 12th passing certificates), a valid email address, and a working phone number. Each mandatory field of the admission form needs to be fulfilled or else the form won’t be submitted.
4. Candidates can only alter the details mentioned in the admission form before paying the application fee. Once the application fee is remitted, no changes in the admission form will be entertained.
5. The last step in the application process is paying the application fee. Once the fee is remitted, candidates are meant to submit the online application form. They might save a copy of the application form for future references.

The prestigious Delhi University prepares a merit list based on candidates’ eligibility and scores obtained in the entrance examination. The merit list is used to provide Delhi University law admissions to candidates. In case a student whose name is announced in the counselling for awarding a seat is absent, the seat is provided to the next candidate appearing on the merit list.

Delhi University Law Courses Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for taking admission in various courses offered by Department of Law, University of Delhi are summed up as follows:

1. An UG/PG degree from the Delhi University or other Indian or a recognised Foreign University with minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA for General candidates.
2. An UG/PG degree from the Delhi University or other Indian or a recognised Foreign University with minimum 45% marks or equivalent CGPA for OBC candidates.
3. An UG/PG degree from the Delhi University or other Indian or a recognised Foreign University with minimum 40% marks or equivalent CGPA for SC/ST candidates.
4. Aged less than 30 years as on July 1st. (Only for LLB candidates)
5. For candidates belonging to the physically handicapped (PH) category, 5% relaxation in the minimum marks eligibility
6. For general candidates that are widows/wards of ex-servicemen and wards of serving personnel (CW) who received Gallantry awards, 5% relaxation in the minimum marks eligibility.
7. 3 or 5-year LL.B. degree from the Delhi University or any other recognised Indian university with 50% marks for General and 45% marks for reserved or an equivalent CGPA. (Only for LLM candidates)

Delhi University Law Seats

Delhi University, Department of Law provides a total of 2511 seats for LL.B. aspirants and 108 seats for LL.M. candidates. Out of the total seats available for LL.M. candidates, 59 seats are available for LL.M. 2-year course and 49 for LL.M. 3-year course.
