MAH CET Section-Wise Preparation Tips
Quantitative Ability: Knowing the basics will help candidates tackle this section. Questions in this section cover areas like Basic Arithmetic, Geometry, Algebra, numbers and modern math. For this section, a candidate’s basics must be in place. Solving school-level Math books would be of great help and one must practice questions from a good source. As speed is what is needed in this exam, knowing tables, squares, and cubes very well would be a bonus. Since Data Interpretation (DI) would form a major chunk of the QA section, candidates must practice DI questions on a regular basis. Mental calculations and methods of approximations need to be practiced rigorously to solve calculation based DI sets.
Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension: Good language skills are a requirement for any MBA entrance exam. Candidates taking MAH CET can expect jumbled paragraphs, sentence correction, vocabulary, sentence/paragraph completion, synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases, phrasal verbs, close passages and reading comprehension in the paper. The best part of this section lies in the fact that verbal ability questions can be solved in a very less amount of time. In the last few days, students should practice at least 2 RCs every day giving themselves a time limit of about 5-6 minutes for short passages and 10-12 minutes for long passages. Grammar rules should be on their finger tips.
Logical Ability: This section may seem easy but shouldn’t be ignored as it can fetch students a lot of marks. Solving a total of 50-60 questions from various sources is sufficient. This section is the highest in terms of weight-age; the students can actually boost their scores in less time. Some areas in LA which are really easy and scoring are coding decoding, symbols, and notations, blood relations, direction sense, Deductions, Input output, Analogies, venn diagrams, decision making, etc. A lot of practice is needed in these areas as the chances of making mistakes are higher. A candidate should solve at least four analytical puzzles on a daily basis, by giving about 5 minutes per puzzle having 5 sub-questions.
Abstract Reasoning: Practice more and more to excel in this section of the question paper. MAH CET has a trend of asking questions with a high level of difficulty from this section. Series, odd figure, analogies are some general areas that occur in this section. As this section will have 25 questions, the best the students can do here is practice 25 questions every day by giving themselves 15 minutes to complete them.
MAH CET Preparation Tips
MAH CET is not that tough to qualify, when compared to national-level MBA entrance exams like the Common Admission Test (CAT) or the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). In addition, the fact that CAT exam is conducted prior to MAH CET makes it easier for aspirants to prepare. Some even find one-month preparation time enough to qualify MAH CET with flying colours.
Plan Your Preparation: The importance of preparation and planning cannot be undermined in any task, especially when it comes to preparing for a competitive exam. In this case, creating weekly study plans and preparing certain chapters on a weekly basis can help students finish their syllabus on time.
Giving Mock Tests: One should write at least two mock tests in a week at the beginning and increase the number to at least seven. While attempting mock tests, candidates should focus on analysing the mocks, as it will help them know their strengths and weaknesses. This way, aspirants would become familiar with the pattern and know which questions will take time to solve and which questions can be solved faster.
Time Management: Any management entrance exam requires a lot of practise, and MAH CET is no different. MAH A candidate has to tackle 200 questions in 150 minutes while writing MAH CET. Therefore, candidates should go prepared for the test, keeping mind that they should not waist time at all if they get stuck anywhere in the paper.
Develop Discipline: While preparing for MAH CET, candidates must keep working on their weaknesses. Take mocks at regular intervals and analyse mock scores along with setting small improvement goals will surely help aspirants meet those targets.
Keep Calm: It’s very easy for a candidate to get overwhelmed during the course of preparation or examination. Therefore, keeping calm during this time is the key as taking too much stress and pressure can impair candidates’ performance in the test.
