Corporate Social Responsibility Create Education Options in North-East

As part of its corporate social responsibilities (CSR), Jaypee Group of Companies, the executing agency of Lower Siang Hydro Electric Project through its “not for profit” Trust, Jaiprakash Sewa Sansthan (JSS) has set up an industrial training institute (ITI) in East Siang district for the youths of project affected areas.

Considering the fact that education is the cornerstone to economic development, the ‘Lower Siang Private ITI’ has been set up at Rottung in an area of 22 acres of land in East Siang district under the aegis of Jaiprakash Sewa Sansthan (JSS) to impart vocational training to the aspirants from project affected areas of Lower Siang HE Project. This is the first ITI in three Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh, said a release.

Equipped with all necessary infrastructures and highly qualified faculty, the Institute has been granted affiliation by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), Delhi to impart ‘quality’ technical training in three trades i.e. electrician, mechanic (diesel) and welder. Its academic session has already commenced on August 29 with a rush of aspirants. The admission was given on merit basis and preference was given to the children of project affected families.

Established in the year 1993 to realize the corporate philosophy and the objective of supporting socio-economic development and providing education at all levels of learning curve, JSS has 19 schools, 4 ITI/Polytechnics, 3 degree colleges and 3 Technical Universities catering to the need of approximately 20,000 students in various parts of the country.
