Class Tenth Boards will be Back by 2018!

In a bid to improve the quality of education, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to bring back class tenth-board examination. CBSE Chairman, Rajesh Chaturvedi, stated that board examinations would be revived from the year 2022. He also stated that they would not be able to do it in 2022 as they are short of time. However, in any case, the state boards are continuing with the board exams. This matter of re-introducing the class tenth-board exams will be discussed at the next education ministers’ conference and with the ICSE and other state boards under the direction of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

According to Rajesh Chaturvedi, students will now need to write subjective answers rather than answering to multiple-choice objective types. CBSE now looks to improve the mechanism for teacher’s recruitment and make it a uniform process. The chairperson suggested focused training of secondary and higher secondary teachers.

The board is also focusing on eliminating non-performing schools and has plans to strengthen its affiliation norms.

Nowadays, commercialization of school education has started hampering the quality of education. Bringing back class tenth-board examinations is a step towards making it better for students. The Central Board of Secondary Education hopes to see a better future for the students by improving the quality of education as well as teachers.
