Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab organized Convocation 2013

It was their immense pleasure to witness the presence of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, as Chief Guest on the occasion of convocation. Mr. Kalam arrived college premises along with Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, the Chaiman of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC). Dr Kalam conferred degrees on Engineering, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, Bio-technology, B.Ed., MCA and MBA students who have completed their degree on merit from CGC, Landran and CGC, Gharuan campuses. He also gave away Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to fifty eight university toppers during the function.

Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran Chairman Satnam Singh Sandhu and CGC President Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal presented a model of Golden Temple, Amritsar to Dr KalamIn his speech Dr. Kalam discussed about education system at Landran. Dr Kalam in his address to the new pass outs said that we need integrated action for developed India and we have identified five areas where India has a core competence for integrated action including agriculture and food processing, education and healthcare, information and communication technology, reliable and quality electric power and surface transport and infrastructure for all parts of the country. He stressed on self reliance in critical technologies. These five areas are closely inter related and if progressed in a coordinated way, will lead to food, economic and national security, he added. All the students present there found it a great pleasure to have a glance of him and had to hear from him. This event was open for all departments.

Satnam Singh Sandhu in his speech showed warm honour to Dr. Kalam and said that he is the inspiration of the country, mainly for the youth. It is a historic day for CGC that a man with extreme intellectual has marked his presence at CGC campus, said Mr. sandhu
The event ended with all the invitee left for lunch organized by the college.
