More seats will be added as soon as the Medical Council of India releases it, to the number of medical seats that remains, by the Karnataka Examination Authority. KEA added 416 seats in the government quota. Students can expect around 287 seats in the next 2-3 day’s time. 61 more seats, may be added in ESIC, Gulbarga.
Total number of seats could, go upto 2,442 in 36 medical colleges.
"According to rules, the seats MCI approves before July 15 can be accommodated in counselling this year. We'll add the seats to the matrix. There's no need to panic. There's sufficient time for students to enter their options," stated Sharan Prakash Patil, medical education minister.
COMEDK is also expected to make suitable arrangements to benefit the students. "COMEDK has agreed in principle to postpone the last date to surrender or confirm seats. We've also requested them to conduct their second round of counselling only after we conduct ours," said minister for higher education RV Deshpande. For the first time, KEA will also allow online payment of fees.
As many as 76 colleges have surrendered 7,421 engineering seats for CET. Three new engineering colleges will add 300 seats and three architecture colleges will add 162 seats this year. In all, there are 51,222 engineering seats in the government quota.
Around 73% of the registered candidates had entered their options and the number crossed 25 lakh.
"We've checked with COMEDK on the number of students who took seats there. For medical, 348 students confirmed their seats and 310 took provisional seats. Of those confirmed, 30 are Karnataka students. In dental, only two Karnataka students of 254 have confirmed, and 70 of the 269 who took provisional seats are Kannadigas," commented Deshpande.
Around 995 seats can be expected this year, it was concluded. The process of affiliation is still on. Last year, of the 58 ayurveda colleges in the state, only 35 were approved.
