Celebration of Pharmacist Day at CGC, Landran

Chandigarh College of Pharmacy, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, celebrated Pharmacist Day with fervor on September 25, 2013.

Pharmacist is the 3rd largest healthcare professional groups in the world and according to a report in India today there are around 10 lakh registered pharmacists working in various positions, applying their unique knowledge and skills, contributing to the health of the nation.

To recognize and reward the pharmacists substantial contribution to the society, Pharmacy Council of India has decided to celebrate “Pharmacist Day” in order to make the public and health care professionals aware that pharmacists are important members of the health care team, and there is a need to make the best use of their services in order to improve patient’s quality of life.

On this occasion a blood donation camp was organized at CCP campus on September 25. This camp was done in association with Rotary club, Kharar. An Eye care camp will be organized by J P Eye Hospital, Mohali and Dental care camp by professional doctors.

Various free health checkups like Blood pressure check, Blood group check, Haemoglobin check, Body Mass Index Check were also done under the guidance of teachers for the public.

Various events were also organized by the students to encourage their skills. Events like Ad –Mad Show, Power point presentation, Quiz Competition, Poster making and Collage making competitions were conducted in this regard.

Overall the event was a great success with the joint efforts of students and faculty.
