CAT 2016 Result: Those who made the difference

Simarpreet Singh is 22-years old and he has shown that physical discomfort is no barrier to achievements as he secured a score of 99.97 percentile in the Common Admission Test (CAT) held in December. Simarpreet is paralysed waist down after he met with an accident in August 2015.

Simarpreet is currently working with a private firm in Gurugram. He went to St John’s High School in Chandigarh and then to Doon School before obtaining his engineering degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani.

Simarpreet’s father Pushpinder Singh said that Simarpreet had met with an accident in August 2015 while coming back to Chandigarh, wherein his spinal cord got damaged and he was paralysed below his waist. He has been in a wheelchair since then. Mr Singh added that despite all odds, Simarpreet secured the highest percentile without taking any type of coaching.

In a conversation with Simarpreet, he said that he received calls from Bangalore and Ahmedabad and that he wants to go to the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He wants to be the best in his field.

The Top Students:

Some of the toppers who are in the top 1% rank (in the 99 percentile) are Anchit Singla (99.34), Rishav Sharma (99.7), Arnav Bansal (99.15) and Saransh Saxena (99.87). Pritika Sachdeva of University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) is reported to be the topper among women (99.62).

Another top gun from Chandigarh, Pranshu Batra, who has secured 99.48 percentile, said that he is in the final year of his engineering at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) of Punjab University. He prepared for CAT after his university hours. He wished to seek admission in IIM-Lucknow.

The CAT 2022 Result is not only the gateway for entry into 19 IIMs, but also for other colleges in the country that accept the CAT scores.
