The anxiety of Indian Institute of Institute of Management (IIMs) aspirants, who appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT) in October and Novermber, 2011 will finally be over on January 11, 2012, the day when the result will be declared.

On January 11, 2012, CAT candidates will get to know their overall percentile as well as section wise percentiles. They will then be required to access themselves, if they are eligible to go through their dream B-school.

However, CAT 2011 Results form the basis of selection criteria not only for IIM aspirants but also for other Tier-II MBA colleges across India. In case, a candidate is short of entry requirements for top 25 B schools, he/she can aspire for the next set of B-schools.

CAT 2011 paper was more difficult than CAT 2010 paper and the overall CAT 2011 cutoffs are anticipated to go higher this year. This year, the questions on Data Interpretation were more as compared to the previous year, while the questions on Logical reasoning were less.

CAT scores are evaluated as per the three steps evaluation methodology. First, raw score is calculated for each section based on the number of correct and incorrectanswer, then raw score is equated and finally the equated raw score is scaled.

With the declaration of the CAT Results, the IIMs and other top B-schools will be shortlisting the candidates for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The competition among the students gets even intense in these next two rounds.

There is no hard and fast rule for shortlisting. Each IIM has its own criteria for shortlisting the candidates. An interview letter will be sent to the shortlisted candidate.
