Board Results and Confusion

It was 11.45 A.M. and I had just got up. I know it was late. But I slept late too! (Thanks to smartphones, Whatsapp and late night calls from your best friend!).
 

I turned the alarm off and realized I might not reach my management coaching class on time

Running helter-skelter with partly combed hair, a bite of omellete and grabbing my textbooks, I ran off to reach my institute. I am late and solemn faces stared blankly at me. Luckily, I was excused and got away without a scolding. Score!


10 minutes later someone taps on my shoulder. I look behind.

“Psst!! Hey, you know when the results will be out?”

“No clue. It was supposed to be the last week of May, right?”

“Yeah. But I got a message on Whatsapp - and it’s official. Results will be out on 24th.”

Before I could open my mouth to reply or question this “official” piece of news being circulated on Whatsapp, the teacher death-stared at me. Time for me to shut up.

Well, the class (or 3 hours of misery) got over and my friends and I decided to go grab a bite to eat.  Sitting in some insignificant corner table of a tiny Dominos’ outlet, the topic of discussion was of course, Board results.

“It will be out on the 23rd. Pakka.” Remarked a friend of mine.

“Are you kidding me? It’s out on the 28th! Everyone knows that.” Opposed another.

“Okay guys. It’s not confirmed. So chill.” I said, desperately trying to avoid this conversation.

“Please. It’s on the CBSE’s official website.”

“Did you check?” I asked, baffled.

“No, but that’s what everyone is saying.”


Wow, what a concrete, ground breaking piece of evidence. Anyway, the next hour passed with a futile debate on when the results will truly be announced.
I reached home and comfortably sat on my bed, watching Modern Family and eating Lays. Just then, my phone buzzed.

“Guys, this is finally official. The Board results will be announced on the 26th of May. Pass this on.”

This was the point when I might just have been a step away from banging my head against my bedroom wall. All these conjectures had started to take a toll on me.

When will the result really be out? What is up with all the second guessing and “official” sources? Infuriated, I decided to myself log onto CBSE’s official website and have a look.

Maybe not such a great idea. I found myself lost in the labyrinth of confusion and too much information! After staying there for a considerable 15 minutes trying to figure out my way, I lost hope. So, I finally decided to Google it. That was another bad idea. All the sources named every date from the 21st of May to the 30th of May. They were just as confused as us students!


Realizing that I may never arrive at a final conclusion, I resumed watching Modern Family and eating Lays. Heck, maybe I don’t even want to know when the results would be out. Maybe, I just want to enjoy the little time that I have left before my life turns upside down. And that’s what I intend to do!
