Maharashtra is home to some of the most popular MBA institutes in the country. There are numerous B Schools in the state that offer various kinds of management programmes. Out of these, as many as 406 institutes with over 45000 seats use MAH-MBA / MMS-CET scores for admission. Now that’s a quite a number! Isn’t it?

Introducing MAH-MBA/MMS-CET

MAH CET is the biggest state level exam of Maharashtra and is as important and popular as any other national level MBA entrance test. Conducted by Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra, MAH-MBA / MMS-CET is taken by candidates seeking admission to AICTE approved first year of two years full time post graduate degree courses (given below) in various management institutes of Maharashtra for the year 2015-16.

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Master of Management Studies (MMS)
  • Post Graduate Diploma Course in Business Management (PGDBM)
  • Post Graduate Diploma Course in Management (PGDM)

Every year, MAH CET is taken by a large number of students from not just Maharashtra, but from all over the country. One of the major reasons that make candidates prefer MAH CET to other management tests is the existence of the huge number of Govt and Govt aided colleges in the state that consider its scores. Apart from this, there are plenty of private institutes that accept MAH CET scores for their annual intake.

Quick Flashback

the year 2013, MAH CET exam was discontinued by DTE and the admission of the participating institutes was conducted through Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) carried out by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). However, MAH CET staged a comeback after a year’s gap in 2014 after the state government witnessed a significant drop in the number of applicants. According to experts, the reason behind the drop in numbers was lack of information about CMAT among aspirants in the rural and sub-urban parts of Maharashtra, where MAH CET is more popular than any other MBA entrance exam in the country.

Compulsory Registration

If you have appeared in All India management entrance tests like CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, etc., it is not mandatory to take MAH- MBA/MMS-CET. However, registering for the exam is compulsory to become eligible to participate in the GD/PI round conducted under CAP (Centralized Admission Process). With your all Indian entrance test scores, you can apply for admission in B schools in Maharashtra provided the institute accepts those scores.

If you feel that your percentile in All India tests is going to be low, you should then definitely appear in MAH CET 2015 to improve your scores. If your score in MAHCET is higher than the marks you obtained in any other All India test, your better score will be taken into consideration during the admission process.

The best part about registering for the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) is that you become entitled to give the MAH CET exam and then it is completely up to you to either take the test or miss it. However, skipping the exam may not be such a good idea if you wish to explore admission opportunities in management courses of highly ranked B schools in Maharashtra.
