'Atharva' international fest of T A Pai Management Institute, is renowned for attracting the best talents from across the country. In essence with its theme this year, ‘Transcending Boundaries’, the flagship event of Atharva, ‘Quiz on the Beach’ (QOTB) is actually transcending boundaries by going international. Atharva-QOTB has also added Chennai to its list for city qualifier rounds. By introducing multiple channels, the best talents from India and abroad are selected for participation.
QOTB city qualifiers were held in 3 metros - Chennai and Mumbai on October 6, 2013, and Bangalore on October 13, 2013. Students with a zest for quizzing belonging to various colleges and from different cities thronged the venues to be part of the city qualifiers. QOTB received an overwhelming response in all the three cities with more than 250 participants.
The city qualifiers held in Chennai was graced by the presence of Mr. Mohan Narayan of Kubos Consultancy. The winners from Chennai were Ranjiv Ravi and Ajay Srinath, (Indian School of Business (ISB)) and runners up were KavinAadithyan (IIT Madras) and S.Thirukumaran (Thangavelu Engineering College). The winners from Mumbai were Pradyoth John from (IIM Indore) and SachinDeshpande (TISS) and runners up were Trimurti Gupta (K.J. Somaiya) and Gaurav Dutta (ISMSR). The winners from Bangalore were Siddharth Pai (SJCC) and Arvind V (BMSCE) and runners up were PrateekVijayavargia (IIT Madras) and Ashok S Menon (GEC, Thrissur). The winners and runners up will go to Manipal to pit themselves against the best quizzers in the country.
The finalists advance to the final 8 of QOTB and will win the prize money of Rs.20000 while the runners up of these qualifiers advance directly to the super 16 along with a prize money of Rs.10000. In addition to the city qualifiers, a team can also participate in the National Online Prelims. The top 30 teams will be called on campus, out of which 12 will qualify for the super 16 round. The Grand Finale will be held in January 2014 on the pristine beach of Kaup (Udupi Dist) will be conducted by Dr Navin Jayakumar of the ‘Landmark Quiz’ fame.
The winner for this year’s Atharva-QOTB will walk away with an unprecedented amount of Rs. 600000 and the runners up will be awarded a prize of Rs 300000.
