I am writing this post after taking inspirtation from kritika’s recent post about POPULAR PERCEPTIONS
This kind of conversation is something which almost every humanities student has suffered from .We the humanities students are always looked down upon .I just have one humble request from people who have these stereotypes STOP thinking like this .Cant you ever think of the humanities students at the same level as that of science and commerce ones. Before taking humanities I was told you will have less options, you will regret etc etc. But on the contrary my family and friends were very supportive and they knew I was made for this thus I never suffered infact I enjoyed my two years and I never regret this decision ever. I was pretty sure of what I want to do. And what’s with the idea of “Girls ke liyehai? Why can’t guys study it? Unfortunately the no of boys opting also is less a lot of them might have interest and want to study but due to mindsets of people don’t.(PS.my class had 3-4 guys out of 40)
And I proudly claim to be a part of the jhola wala, fab inda kurta, chappal walas who speak their minds and don’t bother to know the difference between a Gucci and a Prada. Who has endless no of INTELLECTUAL discussion over coffee?
I am not here going to go on the great battle of science vs. arts vs. commerce. I just want to prove all those aunties and uncles and even my peers that there are a LOT of opportunities at our doorstep. Since a lot of non humanities guys opt for it at college level here I am giving you a brief insight-
1. history-study of the past in simple words. The different interpretations of the past allow us to see the present differently and therefore imagine—and work towards—different futures. Through the study of history we can investigate and interpret why society developed as it has and determine what influences have affected the past and present and shape the future. It helps one to understand the immense complexity of our world and provides insights to help cope with the problems and possibilities of the present and future. After history one can get into archaeology, art history, archieves, museumologist, heritage and conservancy professional, research, teaching

Journalism and mass communication-In today’s time the job of a journalist isn’t restricted to a newspaper .Under print media one can work in magazines, journals, newspapers, .Electronic media which is currently booming also provides luritive opportunities such as tv,radio, internet,ad agencies. The work of a journalist isn’t a 9-5 office job it’s always almost a 24 hrs job and the work under difficult situations reporting.
