Yet another exciting event that took place at Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow was the Annual Sports Day, on Saturday, December 14, 2013.
The function that takes place almost every year (sometimes the annual fete or concert may be organised instead) provides sports-lovers with a platform to exhibit their skills in the field of athletics, with the best making the most out of the event and coming forth victorious.
Despite the mercury having dropped down to freezing levels, the gritty young girls were still in high spirits, ready to acclimatise in the chilly weather, and did not let go of any opportunity that came their way to prove themselves better than the others, displaying the true spirit of sportsmanship. It was a tough competition involving the houses Sarojini, Nichol’s senior, Nichol’s junior, Robinson and Laxmi.
The different events that came about were the Throw ball match, the Basketball match, Badminton, the 100-metre race, the 400-metre race, the Shuttle race, the Sack race, the three-legged race, the Adventure race, Javelin throw, Shotput throw, Discus throw, the March past (which also involved the National Cadet Corps) and the Tug-of-war.
Finally, the members of Nichol’s senior were crowned the champions after grabbing the dominant positions in most of the events.
