The end of what seemed like an endless wait has perhaps compelled us now to open up our eyes even wider.

In case you are wondering, which I doubt you are, I am talking about the Class twelve CBSE board results, which were declared yesterday (27th May). Some welcomed these with their arms wide open, happily accepting their scores. Some, on the other hand, were plunged into a gloomy state. The former included those who were content with their aggregate, regardless of the fact if it was a whopping 96% or an 88%. And that is what it all really boils down to. The satisfaction one derives from his/her individual score, that is.

So, there were some students who spent their day looking at everything as if it was a bright rainbow, while some just found it difficult to be up and about again. Ultimately, as it all started sinking in, as the happy bubbles started bursting and the conjured up images of a scary afterlife started fading away, most of us found ourselves crouched up in a corner thinking ‘What next?’, much like we had been doing soon after we gave our boards. Only, now the pressure was even more pronounced. Some had the answer right in front of them, some were still confused as hell.

So for those who think that their lives will change hereafter, I..well, I can’t really say anything. It might be possible, or maybe not. One thing I know for certain (almost) is that the board result will play but a teeny role in what we become, say, ten years from now.

Now that we are finally over with our respective school lives, my advice to all the to-be-college goers is to stay calm, take a deep breath, consider and analyze your options. We are about to venture ahead into a new life. We ALL are treading on the same path, unable to see what really lies ahead. This may be the turning point of our life, when it all begins. So there are two options staring at our perplexed faces right now. We can either think smart and turn things in our favor, or we can simply keep thinking about how we scored. You don’t need to be a genius to figure that one out.

For all those who think that they have let someone down, or that they have raised the bar of expectations, I would like to share a quote by Steve Jobs, one that has helped me stride through some hard times-
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma-which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

All the best!
