After IITs, BITS Pilani to up the Ante for Student Intake at UG Level

After IIT Council is contemplating to take measures against increasing the number of students by 2020, BITS-Pilani Rajasthan aims to increase the number of students at the undergraduate level. However, BITS-Pilani Rajasthan aims to do it faster than IITs i.e. by 2022.

BITS-Pilani Rajasthan is aiming to increase its current student intake for flagship courses at Undergraduate level to 1040 in the next two years. For this purpose, the institute is renovating its infrastructure to set up the ground. Currently, the Pilani Campus of the premier institutes has the capacity to accommodate 910 students for undergraduate programmes.

Since BITS-Pilani is a completely residential university, therefore, to increase the number of students it is necessary to add the required infrastructure. BITS is taking appropriate measures to do so as the institute has already created new classrooms. The institute is building two more blocs for the faculty members and renovating recreational facility which is expected to be ready by September end.

Besides this, the BITS-Pilani is renovating faculty housing facility built 60 -70 years ago, building a new mess and hostels for married PhD scholars. This is aimed at increasing the number of PhD scholars to 350 which is currently at 280.

Considering the past record of BITS-Pilani that opened an oversees campus in Dubai in 2000 followed by a campus in Goa in 2004 and Hyderabad in 2008, task to increase students at UG, PG and PhD level won’t be that big a problem.
