Admission test for Ph. D in National Institute of Technology, Patna

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna invites applications for admission to Ph. D Program for selection through Institute Admission Test and Interview. Interested candidates can download the application form from NIT website. Last date to submit the application form was May 31, 2013.

Application fee of Rs. 1000/- for General/ OBC/ Sponsored category and Rs. 500/- for SC/ ST/ PH in the form of DD drawn in favour of National Institute of Technology Patna Payable at Patna, must accompany with the Hard copy of the online application submitted, else application shall be rejected.

Eligibility criteria for admission to NIT, Patna

For Engineering, Technology and Architecture Departments:

• Candidates possessing M. Tech/ M. E/ M. Sc. (Engg.) / M. Arch or equivalent Degree in relevant branch from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their specialization only.

• Candidates possessing B. Tech/ B. E/ B. Sc. (Engg.) / B. Arch or equivalent Degree in relevant branch from a recognized University/ Institute may be considered in exceptional cases after approval of DRC, with

a) Minimum 80% marks in aggregate or a CGPA of 8.5 in 10 point scale in all (from 10thonward) examinations including qualifying examination.

b) Must have passed qualifying examination not earlier than one year and

c) Have valid GATE Score with 98 Percentile or its equivalent.

For Science Departments:

Candidates possessing Master’s Degree in the area of Science from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 60% marks in aggregate or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale in the qualifying examinations shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only.

For Humanities & Social Science Departments

• Candidates possessing Master’s Degree in the area of English or Economics from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 55% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examinations shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only.

• Candidates still to appear in their qualifying degree examinations may also apply, provided they appear in all their qualifying degree examinations and complete all requirements for their degrees before their admission to the program.

Admission shall be based on merit prepared after written test and Interview. The Admission Test/ interview will be conducted by the Academic/ Examination section and Admission Committee of respective department in association with experts from respective departments.
