About the Course

Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy & Management - 2012-2014: The Post Graduate programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) aims at strengthening the public policy and managerial skills of future leaders and senior managers from the civil services; and  professionals from social, infrastructure and private sectors. This two year programme helps professionals engaged in public policy and management to tackle new challenges in the context of liberalization, globalisation and rapid technology change; and continuing burden of poverty, social exclusion and crisis.

The PGPPM was flagged off in 2001 from the Centre for Public Policy (CPP), a joint initiative of IIMB-UNDP-GoI, with the main aim to develop an alternate think tank through excellence in research and scholarship, and education and training. 

Initially, the programme was started for officers from the All India Services and Central Services, in their mid-career. It is for officers wanting to reinvent themselves.  However, subsequently, it was extended to open candidates from private and non-government sectors such as infrastructure; telecom and communication; banking and healthcare; regulatory agencies, etc.   Considerable synergies exist among private and public sectors and we expect this to enable cross learning. Starting last year, PGPPM has added another dimension to the learning experience by opening admission to overseas participants, to make it a global programme.



Eligibility Criteria

Open and Overseas Candidates

• Age below 40 years as on June 1, 2012
• Graduate in any discipline
• Should have valid scores from GMAT/GRE obtained between April 1, 2010 to January 1, 2012 or CAT 2011
• Ideal candidates should have full time work experience of five to seven years.

Government Sponsored Candidates

All India Services and Central Services Group A Officers are eligible subject to the following conditions:
• Age below 50 years (53 in case of SC/ST) as on June 1, 2012
• Graduate in any discipline
• Minimum of seven years experience
• Should not have undertaken any training either in India or abroad within the last 5 years

Open and overseas candidates should fill in the online application form available at www.iimb.ernet.in and submit online along with the application fee.

Government Sponsored Candidates
Officers from All India and Central Services are required to forward the duly filled-in application available at the IIMB website www.iimb.ernet.in, through the concerned departments to the Under Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Government of India. An advance copy of the application should be sent to
