KISS students to visit USA
Two Class 8th students of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS ) have been selected to attend "US Cultural Immersion Institute-2014" for the teachers and students of English Access Micro-Scholarship Programme. Out of 15 English Access Micro Scholarship Programme run institutes in India and Pakistan, 65 students from seven institutes of India have been selected for the course.
They have been selected by the US Consulate by merit of their performance in English Language. Bhutal and Shantilata expressed gratitude to KISS and its founder A Samanta for good education, care and motivation they received at KISS. Both are belong to a very poor family.
KIMS Boy Excels in M.B.B.S. Examination
Sidharth Sritam Pattnaik, a student of Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), has been awarded with Dr. Gobind Chandra Senapati Memorial Gold Medal by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics for the year-2013 for securing second highest mark in final MBBS Final Examination 2013 of Utkal University. He received the award from Shri Surya Narayan Patra, Minister, Revenue & Disaster Management, Govt. of Odisha during Odisha State Pedicon 2013- the 34th Odisha State Pediatric Conference held at Berhampur on December 7, 2013. Sidharth secured highest mark in pediatrics & surgery among the students of Government & Private medical colleges under Utkal University, and topped in KIMS, result of which was declared recently.
KLS Students win Prestigious BCI Moot Court Competition
The 29th All India Bar Council of India Moot Court Competition, 2013 was organized by the MITS University, Rajasthan, from September 13-15, 2013. A total of forty teams participated in it. The team from School of Law, KIIT University, won the competition defeating NLIU Bhopal in the final round. Mr. Aishvary Vikram was awarded as the Best Speaker in the Semi Final Round and also won the Best Male Student Advocate award of the Competition. The Best Memorials Prize was also awarded to KLS team in the Competition. This is the first time any team from any Private University won this prestigious BCI Moot Court Competition.
School of Law Student wins Gold at National Open Athletics Championships
Asian Athletic Medallist Dutee Chand, a student of KIIT School of Law and touted as the next PT Usha of India wins two gold and one bronze medals at the 53rd National Open Athletics Championships in the 200m & 100m race and 4 x 400 m relay.
KIIT Alumnus excels at University of Toronto
Utkarsh Roy, KIIT Alumnus receives the Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Award 2013 at the University of Toronto.
Utkarsh represented University of Toronto at the 2011 Festival of Thinkers in Abu Dhabi and has served as an executive member for several of its student services committees.Within the Department of Computer Science at the University, Utkarsh has volunteered at Grad Visit day and served as a member of the Computer Science Graduate Student Society, which coordinates activities for students throughout the year.
KIIT School of Law Student Triumphs in Asian Athletics Championship, Pune
Dutee Chand, a student of KIIT School of Law wins bronze in Women's 200 metres at Asian Athletics Championship in Pune.
Earlier at the World Youth Championships at Donetsk in Ukraine, she clocked her career best of 11.62 seconds – a national youth and junior record – in the first round heats for 100-metre dash. Dutee Chand has been hailed as the next PT Usha of India.
KIIT School of Rural Management student wins silver at Commonwealth Chess Championship 2013
Aparajita Gochhikar, a student from KIIT School of Rural Management (KSRM) wins Silver Medal (2nd rank) at the prestigious Commonwealth Chess Championship 2013 held in South Africa from July 5 - July 14, 2013.
KSBT Students Awarded Top Innovators Gold Medal
Anurag K Kyal and Subham Debnath, students of School of Biotechnology, KIIT University were awarded the Top Innovators Gold Medal at the Prestigious DST-Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme 2013 from Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Hon'ble Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission of India at a glittering function held in New Delhi.
They were awarded as the top innovators for developing a technology on producing high quality paper from weeds of different kinds. They completed the project under the mentorship of Dr. Vishakha Raina, Associate Professor, School of Biotechnology.
KIIT Students Top National Formula One Car Design Competition
Team Hermes Racing of KIIT University secured the top position in the Virtual SUPRA SAEINDIA-2013, a prestigious Formula One car design competition held at KIIT University from September 20 – 21 2013. This competition was open to all SAEINDIA Collegiate Clubs of engineering institutions, colleges and universities across the country. Students from 174 engineering colleges had participated, including teams from IITs and NITs.
KIITians Design Yet Another Prototype Car for BAJA SAE
Students of 2nd Year Mechanical Engineering have achieved significant success in designing a prototype car for the prestigious BAJA ATV competition. The car, which has been completed within a month, roars with a 350cc engine integrated with a compact gear box and differential system. It has centralized steering with all the safety features (as per BAJA SAE rulebook), with a top class double wish bone suspension system, clocking a top speed of 60 kmph.
It is an entirely ‘homemade’ project with almost all parts being self manufactured at the workshop of School of Mechanical Engineering of KIIT University. The students completed the project under the guidance of Prof. Isham Panigrahi, Faculty Advisor and Mr. Alok Ranjan Swain. ‘Team Mechkreation’, as the students’ team is called, is led by Ajit Pandey and has Bishnu Pratap, Binesh, Subham, Amit, Arif, Rajkumar, Prateek, Bansal Raj and Rohit as members.
KIIT Students Design Solar Car
Students of KIIT University have designed a solar car in line with the widely presumed future of the automobile industry globally. It is a completely electrical and electronic vehicle powered by solar energy.
The car, named ‘Yuva’, has solar panels overhead having a power intake of 80W each. Solar panels charge four batteries, each delivering an output of around 40 Amp Hr. “We have synchronized two BLOC hub motors with planetary gear system situated in rear wheels, each having a rating of 250W and 20AmpHr”, said a student of the designing team.
It is a home project guided by Faculty Advisor, Prof. Isham Panigrahi under mentorship of Er. Akhilesh Dewangan. The 24-member team, named YUVA, is captained by Shadab Ahmed and Abhishek Kumar Sinha respectively. The weight of the car is 65 kg, while it can move with a speed of 40 km/hr.
