Academic Institutes Up the Hiring Ante at IITs This Year!

With the recruitment season going on this year, Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are witnessing some new recruiters in the campus. For a long time, blue chip companies, investment firms and start-ups were always on the top of the charts in phase I of placements; however, this time, IITs have seen a whopping increase in the number of academic institutes visiting the campuses.

IITs- Hiring Spree!

IIT-Bombay has seen a three-fold increase in the number of academic institutes visiting its campus. Seven institutes had signed up to recruit teaching talent last year, while this year at least 20 have already registered, out of which, most of them are Indian universities including private and deemed ones. The recruiters are looking for doctoral candidates for teaching positions in their respective institutions.

At the IIT Kanpur, approximately 15 academic institutes have registered to select PhD and masters students as faculty members. Similarly, IIT-Roorkee has witnessed six pre-registrations of the institutes and universities this year. Generally, academic institutes visit the campus after December.

In case of IIT-Madras, a fixed number has not been emerged as of now. However, the actual figures will be released by May-June 2022. According to the IIT-M, these institutes are generally interested in research scholars.

International Recruiters

IITs have not seen a growth in international campuses for many years now. Back in 2009, many universities including Alfaisal University from Saudi Arabia, Texas A&M University and others recruited faculty members from the campus.

However, hiring by Indian institutions is not very popular among the students as they pay less. At the end of placement season, it will be interesting to see how many of these universities actually get serious students.

Reasons to Hire from IITs

• Indian Universities are generally interested to hire faculty members from IIT campuses because they want to model their engineering schools on the lines of the IITs.
• It will also help them foster goodwill among many aspirants in the country.
• Having the best faculty will also lead to quality education in the system.
