5 Ways to Get Smart With Your Attendance

Here are some tips to help you keep a tab on your attendance during the chilly mornings.

1) Sleep Early: Hitting the sack on time can help. “Whenever I have early morning lectures, I get to the bed on time so that I can have a good night’s sleep and wake up on time," says Pupul Pachauri, a second-year student at Lady Shri Ram College for Women.

 2) Let the Music Play: Set your alarm, and don’t ‘snooze'. Set peppy numbers as your alarm tone, and get out of your bed fresh. Fiza Islam, a second year MBA student at Amity University, says, “The MBA curriculum is quite rigorous with early morning lectures happening every day. Therefore, to be up on time, I tune my alarm clock to play nice dance numbers in the mornings to wake up."

3) Make that Move: Drink a hot cup of cocoa, chai, brush your teeth… just say “action” to yourself and make that one big move out of the bed. The hardest part is throwing off the blankets - getting busy with the next move will chase the yawns away.

4) What’s Going to Happen? If you simply cannot drag yourself out of the bed, try to look ahead and remind yourself of the consequences of reaching late. If your attendance is really short and nearing the danger mark, the very thought of expulsion will be motivating enough to throw you out of bed.

5) Plan Your Schedule: Check your syllabus and make one time table for each subject. Then calculate your attendance requirement (75/66% as per your course) as per lectures. Calculate the number of lectures you need to attend to be safe and stay tension free after that! All the best.
