12th convocation of UPES, Dehradun

A total of 1620 students were awarded Degrees like M Tech, B. Tech, BBA, MBA, LLB, PhD in the auspicious occasion of 12th convocation of University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES).The event was held at New Delhi on May 30, 2014.

 

10 students were awarded Gold Medals by Shri G M Rao, the group Chairman of GMR. In addition (Chief Guest), 33 Silver medals were awarded to meritorious students in different courses. Cairn Laureate Scholarship was awarded to Aamir Lokhandwal and Shivam Saxena. L&T Scholarship was awarded to Lakshmi Narsiman B and Siddharth G.

 

In addition, under the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), PhD degrees were also awarded. A total of 16 PhD degrees were awarded to working professionals and faculty/ staff of UPES.

 

Shri G M Rao delivered the Convocation address. In his Convocation address, Mr Rao said “UPES’ progressive vision of creating specialized professionals in the core sectors that can contribute in the economic growth of the country is highly admirable. Today, with the rapid development of the country especially in core sectors like Infrastructure, Transportation, Aviation, our nation needs enormous skilled manpower to sustain the growth and I am so glad to know that UPES is the first Indian University to offer 77 specialization programs across Oil & Gas, Power, Transportation, Infrastructure, Logistics and Supply Chain. UPES in true sense is providing the fuel to the economic engine to our country.”

 

At the end he gave hearty congratulations to the students for this milestone achievement. He also thanked the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and Management for inviting him to be a part of this extravaganza.
