A thought-provoking guest lecture by Prof. Frank Bond from Goldsmiths, University of London marked the opening of Ignite X’s lineup of activities for the year. ‘Ignite X’ aims to bring an invigorating year in store for the students at Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management (TSCFM), a leading business school in Mumbai with a series of engaging sessions and discussions lined up under TSCFM’s flagship annual fest Ignite.

Prof. Frank Bond, Director of the Institute of Management Studies, addressed a pack of enthusiastic management students on ‘Psychological principles to enhance management expertise and effectiveness’. In an hour long lecture, Frank showcased a suite of real-life examples from his extensive body of work and shared various dimensions and significance of organizational behavior, psychological flexibility, acceptance and commitment therapy. Students absorbed with rapt attention takeaways on team building, ethical practices at the workplace, mindfulness and how an active and systematized approach helps navigate organizational barriers and enhances work effectiveness and employee health.Frank increasingly stressed upon the importance of Psychological Flexibility and Mindfulness. The two virtues together can help every manager keep away from getting entangled in internal thoughts and emotions. They can thereby fully harness an opportunity in a given moment by viewing events around them as merely a flow of ever changing thoughts and feelings.

Prof. Frank is a prominent global name in the academic arena with vast consulting experience in enhancing leadership skills in investment bankers and innovation potential at the BBC. He is a trustee of the European Association of Occupational Health Psychology and was recently President of the Association of Contextual Behavioral Sciences. His session at TSCFM proved to be an appropriate preface for students pursuing course on the subject.
