The beginning of new session at Delhi University marked the traditional welcome, orientation classes and courses briefings etc. Despite the all hassles about FYUP, the new session a Delhi University started Monday on July 21, 2014. The uncertainty vanished somehow.
Fresh out of school, students were accorded warm welcome by their seniors, faculty members and members of various student unions. A few colleges like Hindu College allowed the parents to participate in the orientation lectures.

The new academic session 2014-15 marks a transition as it commenced after the recent scrapping of the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP). Everyone was in dilemma about the future of the second year students, who were admitted in the FYUP scheme. As they have been shifted into three years programme, there is a relief breath among the students and very much curious about their academic future.

Overwhelmed with the culture Vrinda Sethi, a first-year student, pursuing History (Hons) from Gargi College said "It was a good experience. Everyone was welcoming and warm-hearted,"
"A lot of students came to attend their classes but not many classes were running. There were teachers holding normal communication but there were hardly any studies today," said Arnav Jain, a second year student at the Hansraj College.
A warm welcome was also given by Student across all colleges of the university with their members assisting the new entrants by providing necessary information to them. They followed the traditional way of welcoming the freshers with 'teeka' and distributing sweets.
While entering college life Ranging is the first thing comes to students mind and it becomes as nightmare. ABVP has formed an anti-ragging squad of their own to deal with any incidents of ragging as it is legally prohibited in college campus. A causal introduction without crossing the limit is ok. This is quite obvious.

'Arunoday', the ABVP cell specially formed for students from north-eastern parts of the country, was also at work guiding and informing students with all the information.
NSUI spokesperson Amrish Pandey said that a coordination between the teacher and students to minimise confusion regarding various issues was seen and this is good thing.
With this the ambitious Four Year Undergraduate programme (FYUP) became a history for the Delhi University. HTC wishes good luck to all!
