The Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) is flooded with applications from students who have scored more than 80% in Class 12.
Most candidates anticipate that cutoff marks will be high this year because of the thousands of applications already received by Delhi University and the large number of students who scored above 90% in the Central Board of Secondary Examination Class 12 exams.
The NCWEB has emerged as a new back-up option for many of the students who scored below 80%.
So far, the NCWEB has received close to 22,000 forms. Each day, around 1,500 forms are being submitted.
“I have scored 81% and I want to pursue Bachelors in Commerce or Economics from Delhi University. As the cut-offs are rising each year, I doubt I will make it to a good college in a regular course. I have applied to the NCWEB as a back-up option as it will allow me to go to classes on the weekend and experience college life,” says Himani Sehgal, an aspirant.
“I have applied for English Honours and Mass Communication. The NCWEB is my third option in case I don’t meet the DU cut-offs,” says Pooja, another aspirant.
However, this alternative is available only for female residents of Delhi. Unlike pre-admission forms for regular DU colleges, it is necessary for the parents of the candidates to sign the NCWEB applications. Most applicants were unaware about this requirement. “I did not know about the need for my parents to sign the form. I collected my form last week and have come back to submit it,” an aspirant said.
