National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NIT) is one of the best Engineering College in India. The institute is a joint undertaking of the government of India and the government of Orissa. National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NIT) also known as Regional Engineering College, (REC). NIT provides world class facilities the institute spreads over an area of 262 hectares of land. It is a residential campus offering accommodation to faculty, staff and students. The campus has all the amenities for developing personal, social and academic skills of the student community. The vision & mission of the institute is to advance and spread knowledge in the area of science and technology leading to creation of wealth and welfare of humanity & also to become an internationally acclaimed institution of higher learning that will serve as a source of knowledge and expertise for the society and be a preferred destination for undergraduate and graduate studies.

Placement
campus of the college is well designed and equipped with latest amenities. Campus of the college has a lush green atmosphere which creates an enchanting environment for the academics.
The building of the college is well constructed comprises with spacious classooms, rich library, Hi-tech computer lab, counselor for students.
Infrastructures
The campus of NIT Rourkela is situated right at the conjugation of the hills of Rourkela. The campus is characterized by aesthetically pleasing buildings which have inspired generations of students to strive for excellence. The new extension of campus, following the High Court order, will be adding another 400 acres to the already huge campus. The campus is a mini township in itself with all the modern amenities. There are eight halls of residence, seven for boys and one for the girls with an over all accommodation capacity of over 3000 boarders.
Laboratory
NITR has well equipped laboratory with all modern facilities in all departments. Almost all department have their computer labs.
Library
Institute library covers the total library area of 4975 square feet with 250 reading seats and AC room which is used by all the library users to read inside the library for longer hours. Total No of Text and Reference Books are around 55000.
