Tezpur University
Tezpur University was established by an Act of Parliament in 1994. Located in the city of Tezpur, District Sonitpur, this university is a Central University. The university campus is at Napaam about 15km east of Tezpur, the headquarters of the Sonitpur district of Assam. The Napaam campus of the university is spread on a plot area of 262 acres. The programmes offered by the University focus keenly on science, technology, and humanities.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous Institution of UGC, accredited the University with 'A' Grade and is accorded as the Visitor’s Best University Award for the year 2016 by the President of India. The University ranks 5th among India’s top 100 Universities in an assessment conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, through the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Further, the University is placed in the top 601-800 Universities in the World University Rankings 2016-2017 conducted by the Times Higher Education (THE), London.
Tezpur University consists of 4 Schools - School of Engineering, School of Sciences, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and School of Management Sciences. These Schools consists of various departments offering courses at the graduate, post graduate, and doctoral level. It offers diploma and certificate courses as well for some particular subjects. The various fields of study at Tezpur university are as follows : Physics, Nanoscience, Chemistry, Polymer Science and Technology, Chemical Sciences, Mathematics, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biosciences, Environmental Sciences, English, Chinese, Linguistic and Language Technology, Linguistic and Endangered Languages, Cultural Studies, Mass Communication and Journalism, Sociology, Hindi, Social Work, Business Administration, Tourism Management, Commerce, Computer Science Engineering, Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication and Renewable Energy. The University offers Add-on courses on Yoga and Violin too.
For graduate courses, the candidates can apply on the basis of their marks in the respective stream at High School level. For post graduate courses, candidates need to have 45% marks in their graduation in the respective subjects and they will have to appear for the entrance test for the particular course. For admission to Ph.D. courses, candidates can apply twice a year. Admission process for Ph.D. courses takes place in June and December. The University follows the guidelines mandated by the Government of India for the reservation of seats in various courses at the graduate, post graduate, and doctoral level.

The University has a number of laboratories, computing facilities, internet connectivity, a dedicated power supply system with DG backup and a rich library having connectivity to several digital libraries. While students’ accommodation is provided in 14 well-designed hostels, a sufficient number of residential quarters is available for the accommodation of teaching and non-teaching staff. Tezpur University Admission Process
Tezpur University conducts Teri University Entrance Examination (TUEE) for admission to some programmes like M.Sc., M.Com, B.Ed., Integrated M.Com, Integrated MA, etc. For B.Tech programmes, the university considers All India Ranking (AIR) of JEE Main conducted by CBSE for admitting candidates. The university also offers direct admission to some of the programmes to candidates from North Eastern states securing any of the top 10 positions in the higher secondary board/ Council Examinations of the NE State with aggregate marks of 80% of more. Candidates who have passed out from CBSE will not be eligible for direct admission.
Tezpur University Application Process
Tezpur University application forms can be submitted online only. The interested and eligible can submit the application forms online on the official website of the university. The application fee for General Candidates is Rs. 700 whereas the application fee is Rs. 350 for SC, ST and PWD candidates. The application fee can be paid through Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking.
Tezpur University PG Admission
Tezpur University offers admissions to various postgraduate programmes in the fields of Humanities & Social Sciences, Engineering, Sciences and Management Sciences. Some of the postgraduate programmes offered by the university are M.Tech, Integrated M.A, MA programmes, Integrated M.Sc., M.Sc., Integrated M.Com, MBA, MTTM, etc. To be eligible for admission to postgraduate programmes offered by Tezpur University, the applicants need to passed the qualifying examination with minimum qualifying marks.
