Saurashtra University

Saurashtra University located in Rajkot, Gujarat is a Public University established in the year 1967 is a UGC recognised University and has been accredited with an ‘A’ grade from NAAC. The University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Diploma courses in Journalism, Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts and Physical Education.

The University is located amidst the hustling-bustling city of Rajkot which has good connectivity with the Rajkot Railway Station which is just 7 km away from the University. There are many food joints and shopping complex nearby.

The University has 27 Departments and 297 affiliated colleges in Amreli, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar, Rajkot, and Surendranagar district. The University offers M.A., M.Sc., M.Phil., L.L.M., M.Ed., M.C.A., M.Com., MJMC, and Ph.D. Following are the list of departments which are there in the University.

The University is spread over in an area of 360 acres with all basic amenities and infrastructural facilities. It has Hostels, Central Library, Sports Complex, Computer Science, Meghani Sahitya Kendre, Guest House, and Institute. Following are the Institutes which are under the University;

2. Wildlife Institute of Forest Science, Dehradun
3. All India Institute of Local Self-Government
4. Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal

Saurashtra University also has many undergoing schemes, amongst which here are some of the famous ones, like ‘Industry Institution Interaction Cell’ (IIIC) in accordance with NAAC guidelines. Another one in the list is ‘Earn While Learn’ Scheme which helps the students from a low financial background with providing accommodations, food, and books for free. ‘Project Gyan Yatra’ is a project where the professors of the University go to different Universities for learning new teaching methods. Lastly, ‘Student Welfare Scheme’ is an Insurance Scheme of Rs. 1,00,000/- accidental insurance scheme has been launched by the Univesity for students who are registered with affiliated colleges and P.G. Departments.
