Sathyabama University

Sathyabama University, previously known as Sathyabama Engineering College, is a Christian Minority Institution founded by Dr. Jeppiaar in 1987. The university offers courses in the branches of science, engineering, technology and education. Under Section (3) of the UGC Act, 1956, it was granted a Deemed University status on 16th July, 2001 and a University status on 13th September, 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The university has been accredited with grade A by NAAC. According to the National Institution Framing Network, MHRD, the university is ranked second among the private universities of Tamil Nadu. It has also been listed among the top 31 universities according to the Times Education Higher Ranking.

The university offers 27 Undergraduate programmes and 41 postgraduate programmes. It also offers various research programmes in various branches of Science, Engineering, Technology and Humanities. It has excellent infrastructure with a well-equipped library and various modern amenities such as internet services, bank and ATM, transportation and health and fitness centre. Hostel facility is also available to the students. The university has a Placement Cell that functions at both the undergraduate and the postgraduate levels. It has a Career Development Program to train the students and Campus Recruitment Program that provides placement support to the students. The Institute-Industry Program keeps the students updated about the activities of various industries.

The university, in association with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), launched the “SATHYABAMASAT” on 22nd June, 2016. SATHYABAMASAT, created by the students of Sathyabama University, is a satellite that collects data on greenhouse gases. This has become a huge step in the university's aim of expanding the applications of space technology.
