Panjab University

Established in 1882 in Lahore, Panjab University has been accredited by NAAC with grade ‘A’. The university boasts of being ranked the number one university in the nation in Times Higher Education Asian University rankings 2015, 39th by the Times Higher Education among BRICS & Emerging Economies, ranked 363 in the Thomson Reuters-powered 'Best Global Universities Rankings 2016' by US News and Global Report, ranked 38 in Asia Times Higher Education Asian University Rankings, 2015. The University has two campuses spread over an area of 550 acres in Chandigarh. It is one of the oldest universities in the countries and goes a long way in imparting education in fields of humanities, arts, languages, sciences, business, medicine, engineering, law etc. It aims to achieve excellence and perfection in its subjects, curriculum and research. It boasts of excellent well qualified faculty members who are experts in their respective fields. The university has around 188 affiliated colleges. The university enjoys a history and heritage like no other, having existed for around 133 years. It enjoys a status and reputation of stature both at national and international level. It consists of some much celebrated and distinct faculty members. 

Later, Punjab University was moved to Chandigarh where a beautiful new building made of red sandstone was erected. Its affiliated colleges were located almost all over northern India. There are seventeen hostels, 8 for boys and 9 for girls. The university lies in the heart of the city with PGI hospital walking distance away.
