Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak was established by an Act of the Parliament of India in 2007 and started functioning in July 2008. The institution is completely funded by Central Government. The University caters to the tribals’ dream of higher education.

Eligibility Criteria UG Admission

  1. The aspirant must have passed his/ her 10+2 examination (or awaiting the result) in any or subjects deemed to be considered eligible for admission to the desired course, from a recognized Indian or foreign University/ Board with the minimum percentage of marks as prescribed by the University which will vary according to the course.
  2. 5% relaxation will be given to candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ PWD/ Transgender and Kashmiri Migrant Students.
  3. The candidate will also be required to pass the Entrance Examination as held by the University with the minimum percentage of marks as given by the University to be eligible for admission. Such minimum percentage of marks will vary according to the course or programme opted by the candidate.

Admission Procedure

  1. Indira Gandhi National Tribal University holds an All India basis Common Entrance Examination to admit aspirants to various Under Graduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG), Diploma and Ph. D. Programmes offered by the University.
  2. Admission will be offered to students on the basis of merit obtained in obtained as per the results of the Entrance Examination and the reservation policy of the State Government.
  3. Candidates, who have appeared for the qualifying examination the results for which have not yet been declared, are also eligible for admission to the University programmes. However, such candidates will be required to secure the minimum percentage of marks eligible for taking admission and thereafter, provide proof of such passing failing which their candidature will stand cancelled. Also, the candidates will be required to submit a written undertaking accepting the same.
  4. The marks of any supplementary examination or the marks of improvement or the marks of re-evaluation will not be considered by the University for Admission.

Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Application Process

  1. The aspirants will be required to apply online on the university website www.igntu.ac.in wherein they are required to have a valid personal E-mail ID and a registered Mobile number. In case of no personal E-mail ID, the candidate will be required to create one before applying online. Such E-mail ID and Mobile number should be kept active till the completion of the programme, if admission is granted.
  2. Candidates will be required to upload their recent Passport size Photograph and Signature while applying for admission, before which they are advised to have a scanned/ digital image of their photograph and signature.
  3. Candidates can pay the Application Fee through Bank Challan which is generated after filling the online application form. Candidates can deposit the Application Fee in the University Bank Account through any nationalised Bank (NEFT Mode) on the next working day. The candidates will be able to generate the print out of the Application Form by using their Username and Password one day after the payment is made. The applicants are required to submit their Application Forms and other required documents to the University at the time of admission.
  4. Application mode is ONLY ONLINE and no OFFLINE OR POSTAL MODE of application will be accepted.

Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, establsihed by an Act of the Parliament of India, came into existence by the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Act, 2007 and satrted functioning in July 2008. The university extends to the whole country, is fully funded by the Central Government through the University Grants Commission and aims at fulfilling the tribals’ long cherished dream of attaining higher education.

With the aim of providing avenues of education, specially higher education and research facilities primarily for the Tribal population of India, the University offers several courses in all the deiverse disciplines like arts, sciences, commerce, management, computer and many others.
