Indian Veterinary Research Institute

Indian Veterinary Research Institute, established in 1889, in Uttar Pradesh, Barelliy is one the most well-renowned institution dedicated to livestock research, veterinary medicine and allied branches. Due to the recommendation of the Ministry of Education, the Institute was granted the status of a deemed to be University on 16 November 1983 under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956.

The Institution was formerly known as the Imperial Bacteriological Laboratory, later in the year 1925, it was renamed as the Imperial Veterinary Research Institute. After independence, it was renamed as the Indian Veterinary Research Institute. Administrative control of the institute lies within the hand of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

The institute has a faculty of 275 teachers that are engaged in work in the fields of research, teaching, consultancy and technology transfer activities. The institute awards degrees for master and doctoral programmes in more than 20 divisions of veterinary and animal sciences. It recently started with Undergraduate courses in 2015.

IVRI students who got enrolled through the competitive examination for M.V.Sc./Ph.D. degree programmes can claim the scholarship. The scholarship will be offered to those students who require aid and have a good academic record.
