Wildlife Institute of India (WII) was coined in the year 1982, for conserving & maintaining a balance between the nature creatures. WII is a globally praised institution, which provides training program in academic courses and assists in wildlife indagate and management. Institute is fully dedicated in its research pertaining to the biodiversity issues. WII is an autonomous Institution of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. The objective of the institute is to provide scientific knowledge on wildlife issues and giving learner robust support in their research on various issues pertaining to wildlife. The mission of the WII is to foster the development of wildlife science and promote its application in conservation, in consonants with our cultural and socio-economic milieu.

Infrastructures
Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is situated in the devbhumi Uttarakhand city Dehradun in a scenic atmosphere. The enchanting campus of the WII is placed in Chandrabani off the Delhi-Dehradun highway about 10 kms from the main city, and 1.5 km from the highway (Dehradun-Delhi). The campus of the institute is comprises with Classrooms, Auditorium, Guest House, Hostel, Canteen, Sports Facilities. Apart from this institute has biodiversity in its campus which includes a total of 616 plant species comprised of 58 trees, 65 shrubs (including lianas), 357 herbs and climbers (vines) including 9 species of pteridophytes. There are a total of 556 plant species comprised of 438 species of herbs and climbers including 12 species of pteridophytes, 54 species of trees, 64 species of shrubs and lianas.
Classroom
Institute classrooms are fully air-conditioned and well equipped with all modern audio-visual instruments like projectors, whiteboards and Public Addressing Systems. The facilities make learning conducive for the students and give them practical knowledge about their programmes.
Laboratory
The laboratory of the institute is assisting learner and faculty in their projects, research and training programmes. The laboratory of the WII is well equipped with various basic and modern apparatus (Digital pH and Conductivity Meters, Spectrophotometer, Digital Balance, Digital Furnace, Hot Air Oven, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Microwave Digester, Automatic Nitrogen Analyser, Automatic Fiber Anal
Library
The library of the WII is well stocked with information pertaining to biodiversity conservation & management. The library of the institute comprises 5,958 books, 20,600 newspaper clippings, 7,350 maps/toposheets and more than 6,225 bound volumes of old and rare.
