School of Law is affiliated to Sastra University and approved by BCI. It offers undergraduate course with specialization in Law. The Bar Council of India's approval to three law courses at SASTRA University - B.A., LL.B (Hons.), B.Com., LL.B (Hons.) and B.B.A., LL.B (Hons.) has unfolded a new chapter for private initiative in legal education. These 3 courses will be offered in the University's School of Law in Thanjavur. Known for producing some of the best legal minds, Thanjavur has to its credit the famed SASTRA University.With a view to build a world class Law School, SASTRA has undertaken to earnestly endeavor and leave no stones unturned. The faculty team headed by Dr. Ravisekhar Raju, himself a veteran in legal education with over 25 years of experience, provides diverse expertise in the field of Corporate, Taxation, Civil and Criminal Law, etc. The intellectual assets in addition to the faculty come from the rich library resources which is the Law School's main strength. The Law library has been established, thanks to a generous donation by Late Shri G.Ramaswamy, Former Attorney General of India. His personal law library valued at Rs. 3 Crores was donated through Shri G.Raajagopalan, Senior Advocate. Rich Collection like Halsbury Laws of England and other journals make the law library the cynosure of all eyes. All journals are constantly updated with a view to provides Β the latest to the students. In addition, the University through its 1 Gbps Wi-Fi internet facility provides seamless access to a host of online legal databases like Manupatra, etc.

Course Curriculum

The candidate should have passed the Final examination of 10+2 Higher Secondary course conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Government of Tamilnadu or an Examination of any other authority accepted by the Board of Management of SASTRA as equivalent thereto. They should have passed the examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% with English as a subject of study. The candidates should not have completed 20 years of age as on the date of admission. The selection will be based on as per the university norms.

The Candidate should passed 10+2 with 50% marks from a recognized board.

B.Com-LL.B -

The candidate should be passed 12th exam with 50% marks.

The First batch of B.A., LL.B placed in Tata ConsultancyServices (2) and City Union Bank Ltd (4)Highest Pay: Rs.6.01 Lakhs p.a.Lowest pay: Rs.3.8 Lakhs p.a.

Library

The entire law library comprising text books and law Journals (14000 volumes) belonging to the late G. Ramaswamy, former Attorney General of India, was donated by Shri. G. Rajagopalan, Senior Advocate, Madras High court, Chennai and 146 volumes of Law Journals were donated by Shri. R.Sadasivam, advocate and President, Mayuram Bar Association. These volumes are available to practicing lawyers in and around Thanjavur for reference and also to the students.
