In addition to Matric pass (Pass in English, Mathematics and Science is compulsory), must have passed full time 2-Yr . ITI / Certificate/ 10+2 vocational in relevant trade with 50% marks (45% marks for candidates belonging to reserved category ) from Govt. / Semi Govt. Institute alongwith 2 years industrial experience from Govt. / Semi Govt./ Private Industry of repute.

Certificate (for the students of 2013 batch only of SLIET Longowal). Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) in the qualifying examination.

Bachelor of Engineering -

Candidate must have cleared HSC/lntermediate Examination in science discipline or its equivalent from any recognized board of education. He/She should have appeared for JEE (Main) also.

Bachelor of Engineering (Lateral Entry) -

Diploma pass from SLIET or from any other polytechnic affiliated with any State Board of Technical Education and approved by AICTE, securing 55% marks (50% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories).Those who are appearing in final examination may also apply.

  • B.Tech. / B.E. / B.Sc. (Engg.) Degree of recognized University/Institute .

OR

  • Pass Section ‘B’ of the Institution of Engineers (India) in appropriate branch or Grade IETE with three years of professional experience in reputed organization.
  • Minimum marks 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) in qualifying degree with a valid GATE score.

SLIET REVIEW

Lush green campus. Refreshing atmosphere. Attractive infrastructure. 24/7 high speed WiFi facility. Hostels are well furnished, washrooms are clean. Classrooms, labs and library are well maintained. Extracurricular activities such as events, Awareness programs, National Cadet corp, fests etc are organised on a regular basis. Campus crowd is decent. Training should be provided to the students for placements. Placement cell needs improvement. Faculties are knowledgeable. They guide the students in the best way.

If you are getting a better college at the same percentage and requirements, I'd suggest you to go ahead with that

The college is not great. Faculty as well as infrastructure both are low. Of course, Engineers can get a better college that this one. It's perfect for those who just want a degree on their walls. You will never hear about technology, ideas and innovation. All you will get to hear is marks, pointers. The placement has gone really down in last few years. Earlier, I was told it was good.

About faculty and their teaching skills

I am a CSE student and I have also pursued my diploma in this college, but I have found no teacher making the subject interesting for students. Hostel and college fees is affordable. In our department all the resources(adequate computers) for practical are available. Hostels are average but good at low price, food quality is good in some hostels and average in some, classrooms are average, labs are adequate with adequate resources. Many sports and extracurricular activities held at college and students participate with their full effort. The faculty is well-qualified.

Green campus, good faculty and average placement

Placement is average. Till my time there was poor placement for chemical engineering. Only one company arrived for chemical engineering students, Shri Ram Panels(SRP). But there are good placements for mechanical engineering. Some MNCs like Honda & Godrej visited for campus placement and offered good packages more than 4.5 LPA. Infrastructure: You will fall in love with the green campus and when you will pass out, you will miss this greenery very much. There are 10 boys' hostels and 3 girls' hostel. All the hostels are well-furnished, clean and neat with high-speed Wi-Fi. The three-year diploma holders can take admission in bachelor engineering degree through SLIET Entrance Test(SET) and successfully qualified students will directly get admission in the second year of the degree.
