CEPT University comprises five faculties. The Faculty of Architecture was established as ‘School of Architecture’ in 1962. It focuses on design in the private realm. The Faculty of Planning, focused on planning in the public realm, was established in 1972 as the ‘School of Planning’. The Faculty of Technology, which concentrates on engineering and concentration, was established in 1982 as the ‘School of Building Science and Technology’. The Faculty of Design was established in 1992 as the ‘School of Interior Design’. It deals with habitat related interiors, crafts, systems, and products. Faculty of Management established in 2013 and it focuses on Habitat and Project Management.

Candidate must have passed Standard XII/10+2 pattern or its equivalent Examination with Mathematics or Statistics or Business Mathematics as one of the subjects with minimum aggregate score of 50% marks for all subjects, 45% for SC/ST/SEBC category from Gujarat Board, or other state boards, CBSE/CISCE/NIOS/ISB/IB.

Candidate must have passed Diploma 10+3 pattern of any stream with 50% aggregate marks from Technical Examination Board of Gujarat or other state or from a university established under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956.

Additionally the student has to score at least 40% marks in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) to be eligible for admission.

An overview of CEPT University

CEPT University is a diverse, multi-disciplinary University, majorly dealing with Built Environment professions at Undergrad and Master's level, in Ahmedabad city. It's legacy spans more than 50 years, and is considered to be a premier institution for Built Environment studies. Faculty of Architecture, it's flag-ship faculty, is known for a curriculum having a strong Social, Philosophical, Phenomenological and Theoretical dimension, which makes it a one of a kind program in the country. Besides B.Arch, it has Master's in Landscape Architecture/Design and M.Arch (Architecture Design, UD, Conservation and History, Theory & Criticism). Each program has an ever-changing, constantly updated and unique structure, which often has overlaps with allied subjects such as Urban Planning, Urban Studies and Design.

CEPT is a great place to study architecture

CEPT is a great place to study architecture because the curriculum allows you to find out and explore your talents and interests. The alumni is quite invested and is eager to help. CEPT will open up a lot of doors for you. Also, Ahmedabad is a great city to study architecture in India because it has a good mix of buildings which you can study. Most of the faculty members were students of CEPT and hence there is a continuity in teaching methodology. The design education is focused on studios which are at the core. The other mandatory subjects are there to help you in your design process. CEPT has an amazing collection of books- information that google won't have. The courses on the practical aspects of building like structure and services are not as focused upon as in some other colleges but that's fine. You can learn those things on your own and as a practitioner. Be prepared to slog and have some of the most memorable times of your life.

CEPT is a place for inspiration and lots of hard work!

CEPT is a place for inspiration and lots of hard work. It requires you to be self-motivated, because learning is everywhere here - with extra curriculars and the love for installations and wall posters, etc. But if you arrive without passion/ thirst, you will be stuck in the loop of the educational system. CEPT had a strong ideology of interaction and connectivity, which is being lost in the recent large influx of new students and expansion of the university, and there is no telling what the new face and feel of CEPT will be. The library and archives have a great collection, and the faculty (many of whom are alumni) and workshops and lab are equipped with great facilities.
