Private University Estd. 1952 NIRF #1 (Medical) 2024Recognizing the importance of distance learning and constraints of time and place, the Centre for Distance Learning was established. The college offers distance learning undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the fields of arts, science and commerce in various streams. Apart from distance education, the institute also focuses on placement opportunities and training for personality development. The study material includes videos, CDs, debates, group discussions, journals, etc., in the form of video lessons. Learners can also make use of the Knowledge Research Centre i.e Library at the Vishakhapatnam Campus. Admissions are based on marks obtained in GITAM Admission Test (GAT) exam.
The programmes are offered to fulfill a learner’s needs and demands. Some of them being certification, improvement of skills, acquisition of professional qualifications, self enrichment, diversification of knowledge and continuing education and professional development at work place.

The candidate without any formal educational qualification is also eligible providedhe/shecompletes 18yearsofageason1st July oftheyear inwhich Admission to the programme shall be made on the basis of pass obtained in GAT subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria. |

Infrastructures
GITAM University has three campuses in Vishakhapatnam (97.33 acres), Hyderabad (160 acres) and Bengaluru (50 acres). All three campuses have remarkable facilities like academic departments, administration buildings and central facilities like library, hostel, sports complex, etc. The laboratories are well equipped with facilities for research and experiments. The auditoriums are used to organize national/international conferences, workshops, lectures etc. GITAM has also set up a data centre with super computer facilities. The Knowledge Resource Centre/Library offers a total of 34 Lakh books to its students including books, journals, e-books, periodicals, etc. The sports facilities include running tracks, gymnasium, tennis courts, basketball courts, etc. Other facilities including café, bank, stationary shops, medical shops, telephone facility are also available. The hostels provide food, potable water, indoor games, etc.
