Get into Indian Army after School: UPSC NDA & NA Exam (II) 2012 on 19 Aug

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be conducting the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy Examination (NA) (I) 2012 throughout the country on 19th August 2012. 


The NDA & NA examination (II) 2012 to gain admission to the Army, Navy & Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy (NDA) for the 130th course & for the 92nd Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) is conducted by the UPSC twice a year (April & August). The selected candidates are sent to National Defence Academy for training. The 3 year training culminates in a graduation in B.A/B.Sc. or B. Sc. (Computer Science) degree of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The candidates joining the Indian Naval Academy would undergo 4 years B.Tech course & would be given an opportunity to join Executive & Technical branches of the navy.
 

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should:

1. Have a XII Class / Equivalent passed certificate conducted by State Board / Universities. Those appearing for the exam can also apply provided they furnish the proof of passing the Class XII exam at a later date as specified by the UPSC.
2. Have Physics & Maths in 10+2 if he has applied for Navy & Air Force.
3. Be an unmarried male.
4. Be between 16.5 to 19 years of age (born not earlier than 2nd Jul 1994 & not later than 1st Jan 1997) 
5. Be physically fit.

Important Dates for NDA & NA 2012 Exam (conducted by UPSC)

Since the exam is conducted twice a year, they are termed as “NDA 1” (April) & “NDA 2”(August)

• Release of Notification: 5th May 2012
• Last date of submission of Online application form (NDA forms): 4th June 2012 (11:59pm)
• Date of Examination: 19th August 2012

About NDA Exam 2012

The written test has 2 papers both of which will last for 2.5 hours each:

Mathematics (300 marks): Topics to be covered include Arithmetic, Mensuration, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics
General Ability (600 marks): This paper includes English (200 marks) & GK (400 marks). In the English paper, aspects like grammar & usage, vocabulary, comprehension & cohesion in extended text will be tested. Questions from Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History & Freedom Movement, Geography and Current affairs will be asked in the GK section. These 6 topics carry 25%, 15%, 10%, 20%, 20% and 10% weightage respectively.
