Punjab University, Chandigarh is organizing a three-day seminar on The Making of Modern Punjab: Education, Science and Social Change in Punjab c. 1850-c. 2000 from October 24 to 26, 2013.
The seminar, dedicated to the memory of Prof. Ruchi Ram Sahni, will focus on aspects of his life and times, and also on how education, scientific temper, language, culture have evolved in Punjab from then to now.
All, including University and College teachers, research scholars and independent researchers are cordially invited to present their original research at the seminar.
Scholars from and of the Indian subcontinent working abroad are particularly encouraged to participate. All paper proposals will be reviewed by the programme committee and the proceedings of the seminar published.
The University will publish a special souvenir on this occasion. A commemorative postal stamp in recognition of the pivotal contribution of Ruchi Ram Sahni will be released on this momentous occasion by the Ministry of Communications & IT, Government of India.
The deadline for full papers of accepted abstracts will be Sept 20, 2013. The paper should be of 2500-3000 words. Presentation time will be 20 minutes. Selected papers will be published in a souvenir to be brought out by the university.
