To provide a platform to address such queries and challenges faced by students regarding course, college and careers, click4college.com, India’s leading education portal organized an education fair on 5th July, 2015 (Sunday) at The Park, Connaught Place.

Some of the best institutes across Business Administration, Hotel Management, Fashion, Design, Engineering and consultants for studying abroad were present at the fair.

 

 

Besides giving the students a single platform to know about various course, college and career options basis the subject combination in their Class 12th, the key highlight at the click4college Careers After 12th Education Fair was a seminar where academic experts from the mentioned fields addressed students & wards with the career scope and means to achieve it.

The Key Speakers at the click4college Careers After 12th Education Fair included:

Mr. TARUNDEEP SINGH ANAND, Co-Founder, Global Head of Strategy and Head of Sales, Asia Pacific at FXMARKETSPACE, kicked off the session with insights into the lessons of Business Administration & Management, followed by a discussion on multiple career avenues available in this field.

“Instead of going after the conventional options, take up the road less-travelled because that’s where the chances of success are high,” he said. “People avoid taking risks due to fear of failure but failing is an important aspect of the learning process. When you take risks, you tend to put more effort.” He also talked about how management has evolved as an academic discipline. “Don’t just rely on text books. Start thinking because that’s when you actually start learning,” he said.

 

 

Tarundeep has been the Global Head of Treasury Services at REUTERS PLC (Managing $2 billion in Information and Transaction Revenues) in 100 countries as well as the Founder Member of Reuters Innovation and Venture Board. Before that, he was a Business Manager with STANDARD CHARTERED BANK.

From the field of Journalism and Mass Communication, Ms. VARTIKA NANDA who is currently the HOD of the Department of Journalism at Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University was present at the seminar to shed light on the role and importance of journalism in India, and its various career prospects.

Nanda is a media educator, trainer and a gender communicator with over 21 years of industry, academic and administrative experience. She has taught TV Journalism at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), and has held various journalistic posts in electronic media including Zee TV, NDTV and Lok Sabha TV.

 

 

She discussed the various facets of journalism as an academic discipline and the myriad of options available to students in terms of job opportunities. She, however, pointed out, “Check validity of certificates offered by institutes and make sure they are recognized by Government of India because it will make a lot of difference when you apply for jobs.”

The fair was not limited to course and college options in India. Another important discussion at the seminar was studying abroad at the UG level itself. Most of us think studying abroad is out of our league, but, if you research properly, you will find that it may be a very affordable and lucrative option in the long run. To highlight this, experts from IDP Education were present on the occasion to talk about the kind of preparations required by students to pursue different courses in different countries. They also highlighted some course options available abroad which are still not offered in India.

 

 

Ms. MUKTA SANJEEV, Head – Sales & Operation, Delhi NCR & DEEPTI DHAMIJA,  also member of the Sales & Operation team at IDP Education, focussed on course & college options at the UG level across countries. “If you research properly, you will find that studying abroad may be an affordable and lucrative option in the long run”, they said. They talked about unique courses like B. Tech with Music that is not available in India.

The next segment of the seminar was on Hotel Management & Hospitality that highlighted how this sector is in its booming phase in India. It is one of the largest service industries in India and a significant source of foreign exchange. This segment was led by leaders from Ecole Hoteliere Lavasa, certified by Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne of Switzerland. They highlighted the fact that “hospitality education does not mean being restricted to hotel management jobs”.  They further added that “hospitality education gives you people skills.”

 

 

Another point they made during the seminar was, “Don’t confuse education with career because knowledge alone is not good enough. Transforming that knowledge into practical application is essential to build a career.”

The final speaker for the day was Ms. BHAVNA VERMA, Associate Professor at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi. Bhavna has years of experience under her belt. She has been a faculty in NIFT since 1996 and additionally as a counsellor for admissions for the last 10 years.

 

 

Bhavna opened a world full of avenues that students can explore in the field of design. “Technical knowledge amalgamated with creative juices is important to make a unique product,” she said. “Consumer’s product requirement in terms of design has evolved over the years and so has the career options in this field,” she added.

Each segment was followed by a question & answer session that cleared students as well as parents’ doubts on the various course, career and college options available.
