Stop terror on campus...Say no to ragging: ARSD

To prevent ragging in campus Delhi University has launched a provision of signing the anti-ragging affidavit by the time of admission with the beginning of every session. Its mandatory for each and every constituent colleges of DU. Following the same Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College has invited the duly signed anti-ragging affidavit from the students.

Ragging in India is a damaging form of interaction of the seniors in college or school with the juniors, newcomers or first years. It involves running errands for seniors, and many other complex activities. Highly reputed Indian colleges have a wistful history of ragging especially medical and engineering Colleges.

Following the Supreme Court orders to prevent ragging, a National Anti-Ragging Helpline was launched by the Indian Government. Students being ragged also can send emails at helpline@antiragging.in to register their complaint or by calling the helpline number 1800-180-5522.

Keeping the adverse effects of ragging in mind various colleges also adopted anti ragging measures. With the beginning of the new academic session, strict instructions to control ragging on campus have been given by educational institutes and the district administration.

Ragging in a light way is good but when it crosses the limit then it is the worst thing that can happen to someone who has join colleges as a fresher.

Some students are sensitive and they should not be treated like this by the seniors. But some seniors want to show that they are the boss of the hostel and they bully the fresher which leads to suicide by sensitive fresher.

Some college promote ragging and they support it. If warden of the hostel has control over the seniors then these kind of ragging will not happen in hostels. Ragging should be stopped because students go to colleges for studying not for facing all these unnecessary things.

In this manner Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College, DU has come with anti-ragging affidavit which is required to duly sign by the student and hi/her parents at the time of admission.

College also says that they wouldn’t be allowed to sit any further exams without this anti-ragging affidavit.
