Sri Ramachandra University today signed a MoU with Yonsei University Health Systems of Korea and Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation for academic cooperation and patient care services. Speaking on the occasion Mr Young Hak Yoo, Chairman, Hundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation said that this is the first overseas cooperation programme launched by them that will provide academic exchange between two of the finest universities of Korea and India and also health care services to the needy people.
Prof Namsik Chung, General Director, Severance Hospital, Yonsei University said that the collaboration will include training, education and research cooperation.
Bo Shin Seo, Managing Director & CEO Hyundai Motors India that facilitated the tie-up said they will be happy to extend medical assistance to the needy persons through Sri Ramachandra University and its hospital.
The Vice Chancellor, Dr JSN Murthy said three faculty members will get three months training in Korea every year for which the foundation will provide them airfare and $1500 p.m. In addition some poor patients will get totally free high speciality surgeries and health care facilities as Sri Ramachandra Hospital will provide all its services free and the Hundai Foundation the cost of disposables for such treatments. The MoU will be initially for one year, he added. The Chancellor Mr V R Venkataachalam honoured the distinguished guests.
Dr K V Somasundaram, Dean of Faculties said the MoU is unique in that it covers both academic and patient care services. Faculty and students of the two universities also had an interactive session in cardiology, dermatology, paediatric oncology and immunology departments.
