Sikkim University is the first government-private initiative in the north east region. Sikkim University is a central University, which was established under an Act of Parliament of India in July 2007. The university has faculty members from both India and immediate neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and other South-East Asian countries.
Still at a nascent stage, the university (when fully functional), plans to offer three interdisciplinary academic programmes – Traditional/ Conventional Programmes, Non-Traditional Programmes and Policy Studies Programmes.

Application Procedure to Sikkim University 2014
Students can download the form from the official website – www.sikkimuniversity.ac.in. The exam fee for general candidates is Rs. 300 (each subject) and for ST/ SC/ OBC/Differently Abled (DA) is Rs. 150. The demand draft should be drawn in favour of Sikkim University payable at Gangtok.
Students can avail the prospectus cum application form from the college campus (management block) anytime between 9:30 am – 5:30 pm till April 25, 2012 against a cash payment of Rs. 250 or obtain it by post by paying a demand draft (DD) of Rs. 275 in favour of Sikkim University.
Test Centres for Sikkim University
Entrance exam centres are located in almost all states of India. The entrance exam is also conducted in cities of neighboring countries like Dhaka, Colombo, Kathmandu, Thimpu and Yangon & Yunan (China).
