Faculty of Law, MDU conducted a national seminar on Law and Social Justice on March 8-9, 2014.
Social Justice has always been given high rank as an end of State & Govt. But, even after 66 years of independence,12 Five Year Plans, hundreds of laws leading to a number of rules offering a variety of special facilities to the under privileged ranging from scheduled castes and tribes, to women in matters of education, employment, food, housing etc., social justice is far from reality.
Thus, the concept of social justice needs to be studied and reviewed in all its dimensions and perspectives. The Seminar aimed to create awareness among the various sections of the society about law and social justice. The Seminar was an endeavour to bring together academicians, representatives of govt. and non govt. organizations, researchers and other intellectuals to discuss and analyze the various aspects of Law & social justice.
