Lord Mahavira Homoeopathic Medical College celebrated Lohri with fervour on January 13, 2014.
Lohri is one of the famous festivals celebrated mostly in the parts of north India. The origins of Lohri are many and link the festival to Punjab region. Many people believe the festival was originally celebrated on winter solstice day, being the shortest day and the longest night of the year.
Lohri is traditionally associated with the harvest of the rabi crops. Even though the rabi crop is not harvested in January, Lohri is seen by some to be a harvest festival. Punjabi farmers see the day after Lohri as the financial New Year. It is a very important day.

Lord Mahavira Homoeopathic Medical College is located in Ludhiana district in Indian state of Punjab. It is affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences.
The college infrastructure is well furnished with all modern facilities. The College Management has provided separate block to each department.
The college offers Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery course. It's a four years full time degree programme.
Eligibility criteria for admission:
- The candidate must have passed Higher secondary examination of the India School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology after the introduction of 10+2+3 years education structures as recommended by the National Committee on Education.
- Or B.Sc examination of an Indian University, provided that the candidate has passed the B.Sc examination with not less than two of the following subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) and further that the candidate has passed the earlier qualifying examination with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
- Or The candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination as listed above during the Annual Examination held in March/April of this year or earlier to it. The candidate must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the current year.
