JNU English Department Among Top 100 in the World

Once again, Jawaharlal Nehru University’s Centre for English Studies (CES) has been ranked as among the top 100 English departments in the world, in a survey conducted by the QS World University Rankings.

Apart from JNU, Delhi University’s English department has also been featured in the top 100 this year.

Meanwhile, the University of Oxford has topped the list. The University of Cambridge and Harvard University have landed the second and third spot respectively.

Last year, when JNU received the same honour, Saugata Bhaduri, chairperson, Centre for English Studies, JNU, had this to say.

“Apart from some IIT departments, no Indian department across all disciplines has been ranked higher than this. It is truly a matter of immense pride that an Indian university department, namely the Centre for English Studies at JNU has achieved this tremendous recognition of being adjudged as one of the top 100 English departments in the world,” Bhaduri said.

The English department has been ranked between the 51 to 100 range.
